Admin, My husband and I had a hard time in our lives, and the Lord spoke into my heart for us to do Communion at home, which we did. This became known to our pastor and he told us that we were in danger of being excluded from our church membership. However, because we did not know we were not allowed to do the Communion on our own, they had mercy on us but temporarily did not allow us to take part in the Communion at the church. What do you think and have to say about this? On what basis are we allowed to take Communion and on what basis can we be denied Communion? The first Communion (Passover) that ever took place was in a house as a covenant of faithfulness and service to God. Then Communion was taken under the leadership of a priest, but not because this relic was forbidden to a common person, but to save the value and purpose of it. In the New Testament, the New Testament church did Communion in the church building and at home. It’s not about where you do it, its how you do it. Are we talking and thinking about the body and blood of Jesus Christ? The Bible teaches us that we can do the Communion with our family at home and it is not a sin. In your situation it was simply the rules and customs of your church. And they do not refer to the Scripture. May God help you!
